With just three weeks before the start of training camp, one of the team's biggest offensive threats isn't signed to a long-term deal. Wide receiver Marques Colston has emerged as one of the most promising young superstars in the game and is slated to earn $445,000 this year.
The New Orleans Times-Picayune expects a deal to get done and I agree. Attempts to fill the Saints' no. 2 receiver slot were pretty disastrous last year. Robert Meachem was hurt all season and about the only thing Devery Henderson caught in 2007 was a massive case of the dropsies. Reports now say Henderson may not even make the team. Add this to a running game filled with question marks and locking Colston up is a no-brainer.
