I hope you got your fill of exciting and meaningful football on Thanksgiving, because there is a slew of pure crap on the early NFL schedule for week 12. I’ll still be entertained no matter what I’m watching, but you might want to sleep in a bit if you just want to watch good teams. It’s time to kick-off the Opening Drive!
(2-8) Carolina Panthers at
(0-10) Indianapolis Colts
I’ve got my eye on this game because it might be the only game Indy wins this entire season. Cam Newton’s production and excitement has waned in recent weeks, leaving a horrific defense and so-so offense in front of Panther fans. If Curtis Painter (or whatever crappy QB they put out there) was ever going to put up a respectable point total, it’d be in this match-up. Though now that I’ve said that they’ll probably get shut-out.
(5-5) Buffalo Bills at
(5-5) New York Jets
For the Bills and Jets, this game is a chance to get back into the AFC Wild Card hunt, since neither team will be able to catch up to the Patriots. It would be more interesting if the Jets hadn’t absolutely pounded the Bills in Buffalo only three weeks ago, but alas, we’re probably in for more of the same. Rumors of an out in the Ryan Fitzpatrick contract are swirling heavily. He needs to play really well down this stretch in order to avoid being dropped like a mediocre hat at the end of the year.
(7-3) New England Patriots at(4-6) Philadelphia Eagles
Dammit Philly. I was all ready to never mention you again, but then you had to go and beat the Giants Sunday night, putting you within (relative) striking position in the NFC East. Ugh. I can’t believe there’s another game on my schedule where I’d rather see the Patriots win. WTF is wrong with me???
(5-5) Denver Broncos at(4-6) San Diego Chargers
With two minutes to go, Tim Tebow will call down a lightning bolt of his own to smote Philip Rivers. Oddly enough, it won’t look anything like the bolt on the Charger helmets. As far as on the field action goes, Denver’s defense might get all up in Rivers’ grill and make him look hopeless and lost for the umpteenth time this season. Get ready to watch Phil lose you another game Charger fans.
(7-3) New Orleans Saints
Monday night’s contest puts the Giants on center stage after losing two in a row and slipping down the NFC ladder. They’ve gone from leading the East to now trailing Dallas after the ‘Boys’ turkey day win. Unfortunately, Drew Brees and the New Orleans offense stands in their way, fresh off a bye. Yikes. Someone keep an eye on Tom Coughlin during this one.
That’s it for the Opening Drive!
