Wow, it was blowout city this weekend. 11 of the 13 NFL games in week 7 were decided by ten points or more. That’s just ridiculous. Maybe it was good I was moving furniture on Sunday… wait, no it still wasn’t. To the Final Drive of week 7!
(5-2) Pittsburgh Steelers 27
(6-1) Minnesota Vikings 17
It’s about time I see Brett Favre being Brett Favre. That fourth quarter fumble and tipped pass/interception cost the Vikings another comeback win and an undefeated season. For shame. You should probably run Adrian Peterson more and stop 40-year old Favre from passing 51 times. Just a thought. Without Antoine Winfield, the Vikings’ secondary and run support is nowhere near as intimidating. Ben Ben and the Steelers are back in the division running after troubles the first weeks of the season. Troy Polamalu is all the difference in the Pittsburgh D.

Great shot.
(4-3) Houston Texans 24
(3-3) San Francisco 49ers 21
Well, they almost blew it, but the Texans held onto the victory to get over .500 this season. In an AFC south with the inconsistent Jaguars and winless Titans, the Texans could make a strong showing for second and a winning record. Meanwhile, over in San Fran, the Niners have lost three straight. They benched Shaun Hill at halftime and brought in former number one pick Alex Smith, who tossed three TD’s to Vernon Davis (who is a beast) to close the gap. Smith will start next week. Also a storyline was Michael Crabtree’s insertion into the starting line-up, catching five passes for 56 yards. It may not sound like a lot, but for someone that has only been with the team a few weeks, it’s impressive.
(4-3) New York Jets 38
(2-5) Oakland Raiders 0
After a great win, Oakland went back to being putrid. JaMarcus Russell threw two interceptions and fumbled in the first half; giving way to back-up Bruce Gradkowski’s getting some game action. For the Jets, it was a desperately needed victory. Dropping to 3-4 would not have been a happy event in the Big Apple. Mark Sanchez eating a hot dog on the bench was amusing enough though.
(4-2) Dallas Cowboys 37
(4-2) Atlanta Falcons 21
Well holy crap, someone is looking like T.O.’s replacement in Dallas, and it isn’t Roy Williams. Miles Austin snagged six Tony Romo throws for a whopping 171 yards and two scores. Romo has found his stride these past two games, this time leading his team to a win over a solid Falcons squad. Don’t look now, but at 4-2 these Cowpokes aren’t out of the NFC East mix yet. With the same 4-2 record, the Falcons are in danger of falling behind the undefeated Saints.

Almost as good as the Favre shot. Check out the fallen Falcon.
(6-0) New Orleans Saints 46
(2-4) Miami Dolphins 34
Oh Miami, you were so close! It was a valiant effort, but you can’t hold Drew Brees down for long. His two rushing TD’s are proof of that. Down 21 points in the first half, the Saints fought back with 36 points in the second, including a 42-yard interception return by Darren Sharper. Tony Sparano’s Dolphins show promise for the future, but their schedule so far this season has been simply brutal.
(4-2) Arizona Cardinals 24
(5-2) New York Giants 17
This one was a shocker. Arizona’s pressure on Eli Manning produced three sacks and five hits, causing three costly interceptions from the Giants QB. Even after two straight losses to good teams, the Giants are still in charge of their division. Nothing to panic about… yet. The Cardinals have finally regained their NFC champion composure in spite of an ankle injury to Anquan Boldin. Coupled with the Niners’ loss, the Cards have sole possession of first place.
(4-2) Philadelphia Eagles 27
(2-5) Washington Redskins 17
It wasn’t as close as the score would have you believe. The Redskins offense is inept at best even with a recently retired Sherm Lewis at the helm and Jason Campbell is getting close to being benched for Todd Collins just to get a spark into the offense. Sorry Jim Zorn. The Eagles get by the ‘Skins with a sloppy win, but a win nonetheless. Donovan McNabb wasn’t at his best, but it was good enough to take advantage of multiple Redskin turnovers. They need to clean up their offense if they want to make a playoff run.
There you have it, the best (and I use that term loosely) games of week 7! Until next time!
