Since I'm in a crunch for writing time tonight, this will be a speedy preview of the Bears' fourth and final preseason outing! If you actually like watching scrubs fight for jobs (purest form of competition if you ask me), be sure to tune in tonight and cheer for players you'll never see again! Here's what else to watch for tonight before the roster cuts on Saturday:
Who needs starters?
Jay Cutler, Brian Urlacher, Lance Briggs, Olin Kreutz, Earl Bennett, Hunter Hillenmeyer, Major Wright, Nick Roach, Caleb Hanie and Craig Steltz. That's the list of Bears that will be sitting out tonight's contest. I've heard some hubbub about not seeing Cutler tonight, but I don't care in the slightest. I don't want to see him take unnecessary sacks in a meaningless game for one series. Here's to scrubs!
Have a stiff Todd Collins to drink
Yep, since Jay won't see the field at all, back-up Todd Collins will be under center most of the night. He needs the reps if he's going to be the back-up at all during the regular season. We'll get a little LeFevour as well, but Collins needs to shake off some rust.
Bell vs. Wolfe: Round 4, FIGHT!
Running backs Kahlil Bell and Garrett Wolfe are in a throw-down for the third down running back spot. It's all but assured Wolfe is gone, but he should get a lot of opportunities tonight to impress other teams around the league.
Scrubs, scrubs, and more scrubs...
Keep eyes on Jarron Gilbert, Henry Melton, Tim Shaw, Juaquin Iglesias, D.J. Moore, Al Afalava, Kellen Davis, and Corey Wootton as players that need to earn their roster spots tonight. At least a few will be cut on Saturday, so stay tuned.
Bear down and Happy Jay Cutler Day!
Also, the Browns suck. Ha!
