Joe's 2010 NFL Opening Drive: Week 11

No time to waste until week 11 starts! The games are getting good...

(4-5) Washington Redskins at
(5-4) Tennessee Titans

I'm trying to figure out how ugly this game could get. Neither team is playing pretty right now and both desperately need a win to even stay in the conversation in their respective divisions. The defenses are disciplined, so whatever offense can break a big play or two will escape with a W. Hmm... if only Randy Moss felt like playing today.

(6-3) Green Bay Packers at
(3-6) Minnesota Vikings

Do you want to see a team killed today? Well you're in luck, as the death of the 2010 Minnesota Vikings could be shown in full HD this afternoon. If Aaron Rodgers and the Packers can sweep the Vikings, they will definitively end their season. Brad Childress may not be able to legitimately continue to keep Brett Favre as his starter. Tarvaris Jackson has to get a chance sometime, right?

(4-5) Houston Texans at
(7-2) New York Jets

For as great as the Jet defense is supposed to be, this season has been less than stellar. Today they go up against a Houston offense that has the ability to drop 30 at any moment. The question is, can the Jets offense take advantage of one of the worst secondaries in football? If Sanchez and those receivers can't get 27 of their own points on the board, it may prove the troubles on that side of the ball.

(5-4) Oakland Raiders at
(6-3) Pittsburgh Steelers

I still can't believe how important this game is this late into the season. These two hard-hitting squads meet up today with each needing to find a win. Oakland would establish themselves as a contender in the AFC if they can knock off the mighty Steelers in their own building, but they'll need to overcome that frightening defense that is going to be ready for violence after taking a beating last week. Can the Steelers protect against a Raider front four that is playing lights out? The possibilities are intriguing.

(6-3) Indianapolis Colts
(7-2) New England Patriots

One of the best rivalries on football continues on this afternoon when Brady and Manning meet yet again, only now even more could be on the line. In a close AFC race, any win is a good win, especially for two teams that would love to get home field advantage for the playoffs. I'll be closely watching this one... but the next match-up may be even more interesting...

(6-3) New York Giants at
(6-3) Philadelphia Eagles

Following one of the best games by a QB I've seen, Mike Vick gets to try for a repeat performance against a division rival in a fight for first place in the NFC East. If he keeps playing mistake-free football, if will be a long day for a Giant defense that ranks amongst the best in the league. If the Giants can't put pressure on Vick early, it won't happen.

Football baby!
