Oh prop pets. How I love thee. Honestly, could there be any more inane and luck-filled practice than the time-honored tradition of Super Bowl prop bets?
For those of you who aren’t familiar, proposition bets (or prop bets, batch) are simply side bets. So instead of betting on the outcome, you’ll bet on which team scores first, who is the game’s MVP, or even what color the Gatorade dumped on a coach will be. Here are some of my favorite prop bets I’ve seen for Super Bowl XLV.
How long will it take Christina Aguilera to sing the National Anthem?Over/Under: 1 minute 54 seconds
Hmm. This might be the toughest bet to make. Aguilera is obviously known for her… note extensions… but 1:54 is a long time. Still, I’m leaning over.
The percentage of Fergie’s leg that’s covered is less than the percentage of any one song they actually play.Odds: 3-1
While obviously the most intriguing of the bets, this could be difficult to win. Who’s determining the percentages? I’d need to know these things. I’m betting (and hoping) that Fergie wears those super-awesome short shorts, but I imagine she’d partner those with some wickedly awesome boots, thereby exposing less leg. It’s a close call.

Before she got all "rockstarred out."
Over/Under: 2.5
Ohhh man. I think a better prop bet would be how many times FOX mentions the Favre/Sterger scandal. I’d set the O/U at .5 and let everyone have at it. I’m taking the over here.
How many times will FOX mention the lockout on TV during the game?Over/Under: 1.5
This is easily an over. I feel like they’d be remiss if they’d didn’t spend a decent amount of time on the lockout, though it’d be easy for them to spend one segment discussing it and never mention it again.
Will a Steelers player do the Aaron Rodgers championship belt celebration during the game?I love this one. Though it truly depends on the Steeler. If a defender scores, I’d almost guarantee it. I can’t see it from Heath Miller or Ben Roethlisberger though. There’s even money on yes.

In his last five games (as of Saturday morning) Griffin has totaled 14 24, 32, 32, and 19 points, though he’s always liable to go off for a 40-burger. I’ll take Griffin. (This likely plays into your prediction for who will win the big game.)
