The Final Draft: The 2011 NFL Draft, Rounds Four through Seven

Alrighty draft fans! Day three is all wrapped up. I have to say, these later rounds leave even me little to say at certain points. Nevertheless, I'm here with a quick recap of day three's action.

Best Moment/Pick/Shocker of the Day:  So I might be a little lazy with this one, but I love this pick for so many reasons and there wasn't a ton of drama today. Watching Alabama QB Greg McElroy celebrate with his family after waiting until round seven to be drafted by the New York Jets was fantastic and heart-warming. For the Jets, I think they found a quarterback in McElroy who could honestly oust Mark Sanchez as the starter in a few years. But who thought they needed to go QB? No one.

Reach of the Day: I’m just going to say it was Atlanta taking a punter in the 6th round. No one should take a punter unless it’s with a compensatory pick in the seventh round.

WTF Moment of the Day: The Eagles took Nebraska kicker Alex Henery in the fourth round. So are they putting David Akers on notice? Man… you miss a few kicks in a playoff game and look what happens.

Obvious Moment of the Day: When ESPN took Trent Dilfer off the set in round seven. Since there were no more quarterbacks on the board, he had outlived his usefulness. (Though try telling him that.) They said it was a prior “family commitment,” but I’m betting Dilfer went crazy when he saw he was trending on Twitter and insulted Mel Kiper, forcing Mel to strangle him, Mafia style. (I mean, he has the hair for it.)

I’ll be back later in the week with a total draft recap with some of my winners and losers of the weekend. Well, as much as we can call them winners or losers less than a week later. Pssh. Whatever. I’ll judge when I wanna. Thanks for joining me this weekend! I'm going to go pass out.
