With the upcoming NHL season quickly approaching it seems impossible for a Los Angeles Kings fan to stay positive. At this point, what we have to look foreword to is:raised ticket prices, a roster full of 20 year old's with little to no experience, and still a vacancy in the head coaching position. The worst part is; when I nervously proclaim that I'm a Kings fan, in a social situation, I am almost always relieved, yet shocked that most people who hear me don't even know who the Los Angeles Kings are. A friend will ask with a puzzled look on his face "I thought you were a Lakers fan", thinking I meant the Sacramento Kings. Eric Stults; literally just minutes after his impressive shutout and his second straight win, has inspired me to come up with my first blog topic. As much as this blog is to praise Stults, who threw a complete game shutout giving up only 4 hits along with 1 walk, it's also about a flaw in the Dodgers farm system. They seem to have a knack of calling up blue chip pitching prospects to soon. Clayton Kershaw is a future star, theirs nothing else to it, but he's not ready for the major leagues right now. His lack of control is a symptom of not having his composure. He's to young, most people couldn't even get on a mound and throw a strike. He has to go out there as the most highly touted pitching prospect in dodgers history, and throw a baseball at 97 MPH past super star hitters. Not to mention 40,000 plus adoring fans who have been waiting to see him pitch since he was drafted. He's only 20, it's ridiculous to believe he
