I’m Not Picking the Winner
By now everyone in the country who is on TV, writes for a newspaper, blogs, or breathes has made their Super Bowl pick. I’m not going to do that. I will not succumb.
Instead I am going to focus on some of the fun prop bets that are out there and make those picks. (This has actually turned into a contest between me and my wife. We have made picks on the prop bets and we are going to see who gets the most right.)
Legal Disclaimer: I must stress these are for entertainment purposes only. (No they’re not. I don’t care. I hope you make a mint wagering on the Super Bowl.)
Here are some of the more fun ones:
Jennifer Hudson singing the national anthem: Over/Under 2 minutes and 1 second.I’m going over, way over. If Hudson is like most R & B singers she is going to drag out the anthem. I think the anthem is going to last longer than the first offensive series.
Times John Madden refers to Ben Roethlisberger as “Big Ben”: Over/Under 6.5
Again, I’m taking the over, big time. I think the interesting bet would have been how many times he calls him something other than Big Ben. Roethlisberger is too many syllables for Madden.
Shots of Brenda Warner after the opening kick: Over/Under 2.5
I’m going to take the over, but not by much. I’m actually tempted to take the under. I can only remember one shot of her during the NFC championship game and she looked normal. Part of the reason she was shown so much in Kurt Warner’s previous runs was because she was a train wreck. She had spiked hair. She looked like a dude. No one could believe that Kurt couldn’t pull a better piece than that. Now she looks like your typical NFL trophy wife and isn’t as interesting. Still, I think every time Warner is sacked they will show her; and if Arizona wins, she will be all over the post game. I’ll go over.
Songs that Bruce Springsteen will play to open/close the halftime show:This one is a lot of fun to me. Speculating the songs he will play in what order is interesting. I think he is going to have time for four or five songs. “Born in the U.S.A.” is a lock to be played, but think it will be his next to last. I would love it if he played “Tenth Avenue Freeze Out” because that’s my favorite song of his, but I think it’s a long shot to even make the set list. I think “Born to Run” is going to be first. I think “Glory Days” is going to be the closer. The wild card to me is “Waiting on a Dream”, his new single. That song will get played at some point, and I think it has a small chance to finish the show.
There they are. My fun Super Bowl non-winner picks. Nope, didn’t say anything about the winner or line bet at all…………
Fine. Steelers to win, Arizona to beat the spread. There.
