Andre Johnson

8 August 2010

29 touchdowns, Schaub has the ability to lead a high-powered Texan offense that just re-upped with Andre Johnson, arguably the best receiver in the NFL. They drafted running back Ben Tate out of Auburn to provide a change of pace from lead back Steve Slaton, who only managed 437 yards last season. A healthy Owen Daniels at tight end means the Texan offense will be a force to be reckoned with.

of the defense, it was nice of them to just step aside as Houston burned them time and time again. Andre Johnson added Chicago’s suspect secondary to his long list of victims this season, catching ten passes for 148 yards and two touchdowns as part of Houston’s 31-point explosion in the final three quarters. Manning was out of position on one of Johnson’s two touchdowns, not helping his case for the afternoon as he filled in for the injured Mike Brown along with rookie Craig Steltz. Charles Tillman forced the early Steve Slaton fumble that led to Chicago’s second score, but was overmatched against Johnson’s strength on a jump ball in the end zone.  It was sloppy play by a defense that allowed 455 yards of total offense. Every time Chicago’s offense pulled closer, the defense managed to give up another score. Matt Schaub dissected the Bears’ secondary, hitting on 75% of his 36 pass attempts. Schaub was only the last in a series of quarterbacks who found great success against the Bears porous pass coverage and non-existent pass rush. It is only fitting that the defense’s Achilles heel is showcased in their final game of the season, a loss.

Week 16 is off and rolling as the NFL season continues to wind down. Due to a busy schedule and some internet difficulties I was not able to bring you a Week 15 prediction post. But have no fear I'm back this week with a Week 16 post (yip yip hooray!) I went a miserable 1-3 in Week 14. A 1-point win never seemed so mammoth.

Yesterday the Houston Texans defeated the Tennessee Titans 13-12 in front of a jam-packed crowd at Reliant Stadium. With the win the Texans evened their season record at 7-7 and recorded their first 4 game winning streak in franchise history. Playoff chances have been done for weeks, but the Texans are still playing tough and like a team with a lot on the line.

28 October 2008

A week filled with late game nervousness and dominant performances. The Texans were the ones doing the prowling as they tore apart the Bengals. 'America's Team' didn't look so sharp, but they found a way to win. The NFL brought a real shootout to London (hopefully no one was hurt!) and Brett Favre didn't look good for the second consecutive week, but thankfully for the Jets, they played the Chiefs. I'll cover those games in this week's Fallout report!

The Houston Texans were a much improved team last season, even without star wide receiver Andre Johnson playing in most of those games. They played well enough to garner their first .500 season. An accomplishment for a struggling franchise. They have helped to make the AFC South the toughest division in the AFC and although they will most likely lose all of their division games this season, they will at least put up a valiant fight. I think we are going to see an even better team then last year with the possibility of a 10-6 season. That will not be easy, but as long as they don’t do worse then .500 they will have had a good season. Lets take a look at some of the weapons the Texans will bring with them into this season.
