Fueled by a Boston Garden crowd that has been starving for an NBA title for 22 years, the Boston Celtics slapped a good old fashioned 131-92 whipping on the Lakers in Game 6 and raised their 17th championship banner.

Pierce has been the whole truth and nothing but the truth for the Celtics. He is averaging 22.6 in the Finals (up from 19.8 in the playoffs) and he almost single-handedly won the championship for the

The second-year man from Cal scored 21 points in 14 minutes. He made six of seven shots from the field and was nine of 13 from the free throw line. He almost outscored the entire Lakers bench (23) and was second to Paul Pierce among

One day after pulling a Willis Reed-like return in Game 1 to lead the Boston Celtics to a 98-88 victory over the Lakers before a gushing Boston Garden crowd, Paul Pierce (aka The Truth) admitted he is feeling sharp pains in his right knee and revealed that if Game 2 was played Friday he would be a scratch.

No matter how many times you play out the 2008 NBA Finals between the Lakers and Celtics in your head and break down all the matchups, the fate of the series will be in the hands of Kobe Bryant and Kevin Garnett.

Doc Rivers may be the head coach of the Boston Celtics but the real genius behind the Celtics defense is assistant coach Tom Thibodeau.
Thibodeau comes from the Jeff Van Gundy school of defense, which requires three important principles: 1) load up one side of the floor, usually the strong side, 2) protect the paint and 3) contest every shot. These three diciplines is what elevated the

Los Angeles moves on to take on either the Boston Celtics or Detroit Pistons in the NBA Finals while the Spurs go home to contemplate. Tim Duncan might make a few more H-E-B pre-cooked meat commercials while head coach Gregg Popovich will undoubtedly evaluate the team's needs and get ready for next season.

Everybody’s talking about Pau’s monster game. ESPN’s JA Adande is reminding folks about the legacy of Lakers’ big men. A 36-point, 16-rebound, 8-assist, 3-block game will get people to notice. Kobe dropped 32 but shot a putrid 9-26. After the game, #24 talked about how he was the decoy and how the Lakers have a vicious 1-2 punch.

East
Celtics-Hawks: Honestly, this is the only sentence I am writing about this series because it’s going to be an easy sweep. Celtics in 4.
Cavs-Wizards: By far the most intriguing first round series in the East. These two teams have met in the last two years and the Cavs have won both times. LeBron owns this team but this year could be different. The Wizards are finally healthy and have more confidence then they have had in the past. They truly believe they can beat the Cavs, as evident by their comments last week stating they wanted to play Cleveland. The LeBron’s are not as good this year as they were last year so this could definitely be the Wizards time. With that said, I don’t see LeBron out in the first round. Cavs in 7.

I call myself the Sports Sage so that should give you a clue as to just how dumb I really am when it comes to actual sports knowledge. I watch sports because they are exciting, inspirational and free on TV. They happen in real time and have predictable commercials. Often we get to ooh and Ahhh at things that we will almost never be able to do while watching grown up people like us at play. Its a lot more fun than watching regular people like us work.
