Chris Williams

30 December 2009

Seeing him burn Antoine Winfield for the game-winning touchdown was superb.

-Chris Williams doesn't completely suck! With a bit of help from the running backs and tight ends, Williams handled Jared Allen all night long, raising expectations for his future at left tackle and for the offensive line. In a year where linemen rotated in and out, William's replacing of Orlando Pace was the best move that came way too late. It's obvious Chris' natural position is on the left side. Now we can keep him there.

Nothing can truly simulate game experience, so what is the harm in getting some rookies out there? Chris Williams has three games to showcase some hope at left tackle, because there's no other option available after the failed Orland Pace experiment.

Tommie Harris can't line up in the neutral zone. Frank Omiyale can't be caught holding. Chris Williams can't flinch before the play starts. It's called coaching. DO IT.

-Also the coaches fault: this obvious lack of synergy between Cutler and the receivers. In week 14, it's not that they haven't gotten on the same page, it's that you haven't bought them the same book. Its as though Smith and Ron Turner haven't figured out what Cutler likes to do yet or haven't even asked him about it. It looks that awful.

The problem is the offensive line is the same amount of awful no matter what time it is. Chris Williams didn't look all that great at left tackle last Sunday, but at least I know he still has a pair of knees. (Sorry Orlando Pace.)  I'd say running the ball would help keep that pressure off Jay, but we all know that's an unlikely prospect. Chances are we'll have to air it our at least 30 times and probably over 40. That being the case, I want to see 6-8 catches from Greg Olsen and 15-20 from my wide receivers.

(Which looked putrid.) Chris Williams was... alright in his first start at left tackle. ESPN has the Bears credited with six fumbles, one of which was lost. Lovie better nip that problem in the bud and fast. (Matt Forte, I thought we were past your case of fumblitis.)

enty of time to find open receivers.

Orlando Pace should me moved to right tackle and Chris Williams should switch to left. He’s going to eventually anyway and Pace isn’t helping on the left side. With the money they spent on Frank Omiyale, the Bears may have to give more him time to gel in the position before bringing in Josh Beekman.

d to start at a guard spot (probably on the right side), leaving last year’s first round pick Chris Williams at left tackle. I’ll quickly run through the news regarding Chicago and their molasses-like talent search.

.

His signing is important news for the Chicago Bears, as it leaves only first-round OT Chris Williams unsigned from their rookie class of '08. GM Jerry Angelo is consistently ahead of the curve in the NFL when it comes to addressing rookie contracts. He does not wait for the market to establish itself for any position or round, instead choosing to dole out contracts he deems fit for each player. It is surely working in his favor. I expect
