Dwight Freeney

superstar Reggie Wayne or rookie Austin Collie.

For Drew Brees, he needs to keep an eye on where Dwight Freeney is at all times. The Colts will attempt to pressure using only their front four most of the night like they have all season, regardless of Freeney's health. Drew must take advantage of that aggressive defensive line with dump-off passes to Reggie Bush and short throws over the middle. Speaking of Bush, he needs to have another Arizona-type game if his team is going to emerge victorious.

s another in his arsenal.

The biggest question going into Super Bowl 44 is the health of Dwight Freeney, who tore a ligament in his ankle during the Jets game. Two weeks later, he's been undergoing every possible treatment so he can make it back onto the field Sunday. In the best possible scenario, Freeney will see action on passing downs, for perhaps 12-18 plays. In his absence, Raheem Brock must pick up the slack on the left side while Robert Mathis will see protection slide his direction on the right.

Against Dwight Freeney and that pass rush, that's exactly what the Colts want.

Analysis: In the end, I think the Colts defense can have a greater effect on the Jet offense than the Jet defense can against Manning and the Colt offense. Revis will not shut out Wayne, but even if he does Dallas Clark should have a field day against the Jet safeties. Also, keep an eye on how long the Colt defense is on the field in the first half. If it's a close game, they could be exhausted going down the stretch.

Defensive ends Dwight Freeney and Robert Mathis did not sack Flacco in their 17-15 win over Baltimore earlier this season, but they may not get a chance to today. The Colts will need to shut down Ray Rice and the running game in order to give Manning and the offense the most possessions possible.

I love it.

The defense suffered last year with the loss of Dwight Freeney, one of the best defensive ends in the game, but Bob Sanders emerged to make a lot of noise for the team. Sanders was named the AFC Defensive Player of the year last year and I’m sure he’s looking to repeat that this year. Its not a bad defense. Tampa 2 is a defense that eliminates the big play. The Colts are a hard team to score on. They say that you can run on the Colts, that they can’t defend the run, but every time its brought up the Colts shut everyone down. They have a great defense. One of the best in the league.
