Jake Delhomme

(4-5) Carolina Panthers 28
(5-4) Atlanta Falcons 19

Simply did not see that coming. Jake Delhomme not sucking, I mean. Atlanta’s lost some tough games and is in trouble of losing out on the playoffs entirely. Odder things have happened I guess.

(But does anyone watching the game on TV in a non-Dallas market give a crap about the stadium?) Jake Delhomme and the Panthers are in for a long season.

Alright everyone, keep an eye ou

For Carolina, Jake Delhomme only tossed one interception. I’d call that an improvement.

(1-1) Cincinnati Bengals   31
(1-1) Green Bay Packers   24

HA! That’s just embarrassing for Green Bay fans. You take down your division rival in week one just to fall to the lowly Bengals the next week. Carson Palmer hasn’t been himself for a few years; maybe this is the season he can get back on track as being one of the best QB’s in football.

an 0-2 start.

Carolina Panthers (0-1) at Atlanta Falcons (1-0)

What’s the over / under on Jake Delhomme interceptions in this NFC South match-up? I’m going to set that line at 2. Though after 9 picks (and 2 fumbles) in his last two games, I’m being generous. His leash could not be shorter. If Atlanta takes down the Panthers, they could share the division lead (or own it outright) after only two games. Expect heavy doses of both teams’ running attacks.

of these four quarterbacks is the odd man out when Vick is back and McNabb is healthy?

Um… Jake Delhomme looked awful. Again. His four interceptions and one fumble just continued his dreadful performance in last year’s playoff meltdown. He was benched for Carolina’s second QB Josh McCown, who left the game with an injury. Third stringer Matt Moore came in the game with even less success. Delhomme looks finished, but it’s only a two-game stretch. How long can you go to him?

This year will be key in McNabb returning to the Eagles next season.

Jake Delhomme had the worst game of his career against the Cardinals in Carolina’s only playoff game last season. In a competitive NFC South, the Panthers need to lean on running backs DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart if they hope to repeat as division champs. With (formerly?) disgruntled defensive end Julius Peppers in a contract year, look for double-digit sacks from the lineman.

Most of that can be blamed on their quarterback problems last season. Jake Delhomme was having a fantastic year until the injury bug hit him hard and ended his season. This forced the Panthers to play the under-achieving David Carr, a man I feel should not even be playing in the NFL, let alone starting for any franchise. Things got so bad in Carolina, that they even went out and got the older-then-God Vinny Testaverde. Testaverde played ok, but it wasn’t what this team needed to have success. Lets face it, the season was over when Delhomme went down. The offensive line played terribly last season. Delhomme may not have been able to avoid the injury, but Carr was getting killed back there when he played. The Panthers needed to fix that offensive line coming into this year. They did pick up a couple of good draft picks. Jeff Otah from Pittsburgh will be a great addition to the line. I don’t think its going to be enough, but lets hope for the Panther’s sake that the offensive line can come through.
