(4-5) Carolina Panthers 28
(5-4) Atlanta Falcons 19
Simply did not see that coming. Jake Delhomme not sucking, I mean. Atlanta’s lost some tough games and is in trouble of losing out on the playoffs entirely. Odder things have happened I guess.

HA! That’s just embarrassing for Green Bay fans. You take down your division rival in week one just to fall to the lowly Bengals the next week. Carson Palmer hasn’t been himself for a few years; maybe this is the season he can get back on track as being one of the best QB’s in football.

Carolina Panthers (0-1) at Atlanta Falcons (1-0)
What’s the over / under on Jake Delhomme interceptions in this NFC South match-up? I’m going to set that line at 2. Though after 9 picks (and 2 fumbles) in his last two games, I’m being generous. His leash could not be shorter. If Atlanta takes down the Panthers, they could share the division lead (or own it outright) after only two games. Expect heavy doses of both teams’ running attacks.

Um… Jake Delhomme looked awful. Again. His four interceptions and one fumble just continued his dreadful performance in last year’s playoff meltdown. He was benched for Carolina’s second QB Josh McCown, who left the game with an injury. Third stringer Matt Moore came in the game with even less success. Delhomme looks finished, but it’s only a two-game stretch. How long can you go to him?

Jake Delhomme had the worst game of his career against the Cardinals in Carolina’s only playoff game last season. In a competitive NFC South, the Panthers need to lean on running backs DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart if they hope to repeat as division champs. With (formerly?) disgruntled defensive end Julius Peppers in a contract year, look for double-digit sacks from the lineman.
