Johnny Knox

29 August 2010

While they did show some flashes on a deep pass to Johnny Knox and screen passes to Matt Forte and Chester Taylor, it wasn't enough. For every one or two good plays, Chicago consistently followed-up with a poor one. They never appeared to be completely in-sync, ensuring some long film sessions during this short turn-around before Thursday's final preseason game.

takes a few receptions away from Johnny Knox as Cutler's go-to guy.

-Pass protect!

We need to keep Jay upright for 16 games this year or we'll have no chance at getting into the playoffs of even a winning record. That means Olin Kreutz and the rest of that reassembled offensive line have to start gelling fast. With all of the deep drops in Martz's scheme, the line needs to get on track.

He completed both of his pass attempts to Johnny Knox for 47 total yards. Otherwise it was hand-offs and a sack for Jay tonight in a bland offensive gameplan. Still, there's a noticeable difference on that side of the ball thanks to Martz. We'll see how it looks going forward. Some fans were surprised at Cutler only playing one series, but I was fine with it. He'll get plenty of reps in the next two games. Though I honestly doubted Lovie's claim of playing his starters close to a half. Yeah, right.

Matt Forte should get a ton of carries and a rare 100-yard game to end the regular season. Johnny Knox is doubtful with his ankle injury from last week, but Devin Hester will return to the fiel

When Jay Cutler likes a receiver, he's going to look for them. Period. Just see what Johnny Knox has done this season. Aromashodu's 8 catches for 76 yards and one impressive endzone grab came only because Devin Hester was on the sidelines. As the only big wide-out on the roster, Lovie Smith must be able to see the match-up problems he can cause. He may not be Randy Moss, but with Cutler he won't have to be.

yards and another touchdown, giving him scores in three straight games.

Earl Bennett, Johnny Knox and Devin Hester are becoming a solid trio of receivers and more reliable than I would have anticipated. Hester is especially improving thanks to Knox’s contributions on special teams. Desmond Clark had a couple big grabs even if he couldn’t pull in the final throw from Cutler.

Devin Hester and Johnny Knox were not even listed on the injury report, so expect to see Chicago’s two burners on the outside for Jay Cutler.

Speaking of Franchise Jay, it may be time to see an aerial assault from the Chicago Bears. Atlanta has the 10th best pass defense in the league, letting opposing quarterbacks complete only fifty-seven percent of their passes. However, Cutler was the only quarterback to win at the Georgia Dome last season when he helmed the Denver Broncos. With the right play-calling, Cutler can expose the Atlanta secondary for some big plays.

seeya.

The key play of the game came when the electric Johnny Knox returned the second half opening kickoff 102-yards for a touchdown, breaking a 21-all tie. From there it all went downhill for Detroit. Their next four drives ended in three 3-and-outs and a lost Stafford fumble. Chicago’s defensive line teed off on Detroit’s rookie QB, sacking Stafford five times, including an ugly takedown from Adewale Ogunleye that took Stafford out of the game with a knee injury (which was said to have popped out and then popped back in).

He can make one person miss (in this case it was two) and take it to the house. Johnny Knox’s increased role on offense and special teams should take some pressure of Hester’s back as well.

aying the Rams and 49ers, neither of whom pass the ball effectively downfield.) If Devin Hester and Johnny Knox see the field at receiver together, there should be plenty of space to run, but also plenty of cushion on the outside. Seattle’s DB’s will have to respect their speed and Cutler’s arm. Greg Olsen and Kellen Davis will have all the space they need to make catches over the middle. Olsen’s size and speed should give Seattle’s secondary fits.

Down seven in the fourth quarter, he tossed it to rookie receiver Johnny Knox, who went up and made sure the ball hit him between the numbers, coming down with it in the end zone for the tying score.

Cutler likes Aromashodu, so that clears up the reasoning behind his position.
