give them the hat-trick over their division rivals, something of which Jones can be proud.

(4-12) Kansas City Chiefs 44
(8-8) Denver Broncos 24

If you had told me the Broncos would go 8-8 at the beginning of the year, I would have said that would be a successful season. After starting 6-0? Not so much. Kyle Orton proved he will never be more than a slightly above average quarterback, throwing two cost pick-sixes to Chiefs LB Derrick Johnson. Even without those scores, the Bronco defense gave up 30 points, providing evidence that not all is solved on that front. Josh McDaniels's decision to bench Brandon Marshall and Tony Scheffler may have cost his team a trip to the postseason, whether his other players agree with it or not.

Don't miss this one. I'm mixed, but I'll take Dallas.

(3-12) Kansas City Chiefs at (8-7) Denver Broncos

Yep, this has all the makings of an ugly game. Neither offense is exactly explosive, but the real dynamite will be missing from the Denver sideline. Receiver Brandon Marshall and tight end Tony Scheffler will be benched for disciplinary reasons and won't be allowed near the field. Sophomore wide-out Eddie Royal is likely to miss today's dame as well, so Josh McDaniels will lean heavily on his running attack and the short passing game. Even at 3-12, I like the Chiefs to pull of the upset over their AFC West rival.

he football sky isn’t falling in New York… at least not for Giants fans.

(1-5) Kansas City Chiefs 14
(2-4) Washington Redskins 6

HAHAHAHA. Oh Jim Zorn, you’re SO fired. For the third time this season, the Redskins give a winless team their first victory. The fact that Daniel Snyder brought in an offensive consultant in Sherm Lewis (who was calling Bingo at a senior center two weeks ago, no lie) who is now going to be calling the offensive plays means Zorn is all but out as head coach.

Pittsburgh should lay the wood to these streaking Browns.

(0-5) Kansas City Chiefs at (2-3) Washington Redskins

In the wacky world of the Redskins, things aren’t going exactly as owner Daniel Snyder planned. They’ve beaten the Bucs and Rams but lost to the lowly Lions and the pathetic Panthers. Now they get the

That defense won’t let Tennessee run rampant like Houston’s did.

Kansas City Chiefs (0-2) at Philadelphia Eagles (1-1)

Philly will sit Donovan McNabb for a second straight week, and maybe even receiver DeSean Jackson. Michael Vick will make his much bally-hooed regular season debut, but don’t expect fireworks. With their bye week next, the Eagles may try to get two weeks of rest for players for the price of only one game. Against the lowly Chiefs, that might be a good idea. Then again, it is the NFL.

17 November 2008

This is the kind of game the Saints often find a way to lose. The Chefs' offense has been improving and they had Larry Johnson back from his - um, off-the-field issues. Drew Brees was spectacular as always but the true star of this game was the defense. They stuffed the Chiefs on two crucial goal line stands, sacked the mobile Thigpen four times and came through when they had to.

28 October 2008

A week filled with late game nervousness and dominant performances. The Texans were the ones doing the prowling as they tore apart the Bengals. 'America's Team' didn't look so sharp, but they found a way to win. The NFL brought a real shootout to London (hopefully no one was hurt!) and Brett Favre didn't look good for the second consecutive week, but thankfully for the Jets, they played the Chiefs. I'll cover those games in this week's Fallout report!

he healthier team and pick San Diego.

Winners - San Diego Chargers

2) Kansas City Chiefs @ New York Jets

Jets are coming off an overtime loss to the Raiders last Sunday in which the offense had the ball 3 times in the extra quarter, but still could not muster any points. Brett Favre did not look good and was in the news this week with the whole Matt Millen Lions/Packers play-scheme swap accusation in which Favre denied. If I were the Jets I would want my quarterback to be in the news for practicing and game-planning for the Chiefs for Sunday. Speaking of the Chiefs, KC lost both their starter and back up quarterbacks last week. So third stringer Tyler Thigpen will get the start for the 1-5 Chiefs. Larry Johnson will not be available due to the on-going investigation following a Oct. 10 night club incident, in which Johnson allegedly told a woman he was going to kill her boyfriend then spat in her face. Not much good going on with the Chiefs. I'll take the Jets in this one.

e knows something is wrong.

And not that anyone expected anything from the Oakland Raiders or the Kansas City Chiefs, but the Chiefs have had the worst quarterback-carousel in recent memory and just lost inept first-stringer Brodie Croyle to a season-ending knee injury (which currently leaves the Chiefs in the utterly pathetic hands of Tyler Thigpen). And the Raiders, despite remaining competitive in many games won or lost, have not lived up the hype that their off-season acquisitions merited.

hrough some of the NFL’s more interesting outcomes of the prior week.

Carolina Panthers 34, Kansas City Chiefs 0

Did anyone think that the Chiefs would be this bad? All we heard over the off-season was how they had the best draft class in the NFL.  Now all they can say for their season thus far is a surprising win (their only win overall) over the AFC West leading Denver Broncos. Carolina pushed Kansas City around on Sunday as DeAngelo Williams rushed for 123 yards and two touchdowns. Rookie Jonathan Stewart got into the fun as well with 72 yards on 19 carries. Jake Delhomme seems to have completely rebounded after have Tommy John surgery. It’ll remain to be seen how his arm holds up over 16 games, but Jake has been at his best through five. Muhsin Muhammad has found his old self after returning to Carolina, finding the end zone on a 47 yard reception.

It was an interesting week in the National Football League. A few surprises, a big meltdown by one team and one bruised and battered team found a way to win a big prime-time game. Let's get right to it--game by game.

29 July 2008

A 4-12 record showed us how bad the Kansas City Chiefs can be. They have issues all over their team. Its unfortunate for Coach Herm Edwards. He is a terrific coach, but he’s got a team that just doesn’t get the job done. The Chiefs may have improved aspects of their team in the draft, but they are still a long way from being a team that matters. My biggest concern with the Chiefs is their terrible offensive line. The line could not produce the holes for stud running back Larry Johnson, while he was playing, and they also couldn’t protect their quarterback, whoever it was. The Chiefs addressed this problem by drafting Guard Brandon Albert out of Virginia and Tackle Barry Richardson out of Clemson, but I still think the line is far from improved.
