Matt Schaub

rse" in the AFC playoff race and every year the Texans have fallen short of those predictions. Matt Schaub took a giant leap forward in '09, playing 16 games and finally proving his durability and his worthiness of his contract. With 29 touchdowns, Schaub has the ability to lead a high-powered Texan offense that just re-upped with Andre Johnson, arguably the best receiver in the NFL. They drafted running back Ben Tate out of Auburn to provide a change of pace from lead back Steve Slaton, who only managed 437 yards last season. A healthy Owen Daniels at tight end means the Texan offense will be a force to be reckoned with.

Regardless, QB Matt Schaub, who led the league in passing yards, gives them hope for the immediate future.

(9-7) Baltimore Ravens 21
(5-11) Oakland Raiders 13

The Ravens make it into the postseason by beating the Raiders. Charlie Frye started the game for Oakland but eventually gave way to JaMarcus Russell who was equally as inept. Give credit to the Ravens for taking advantage of a lackluster Raider offense and making it into the playoffs for the second straight year.

ver playoffs, they need losses from two of the following three teams: the Jets, Ravens, or Broncos. Matt Schaub has taken great strides to become a top signal-caller this season and he'll be staring at a weak New England secondary today.  The real question is how long the Patriots will feel like playing. Tom Brady says he expects to play the entire game, but I'm not convinced. Perhaps a half, but anything beyond that would be foolish. Bill Belichick's Pats aren't playing for anything other than the 3 or 4 seed, so unless they prefer to play San Diego I don't envision more than a half for Brady, Welker and Moss. Houston should get the win unless Belichick has a second coach-fart this season.

incinnati Bengals 17

Every once in a while, Houston goes ballistic and puts up mega-points. Matt Schaub once again proves he’s a fantastic fantasy QB… five games a season. The Bengals aren’t an elite team, so you had to expect a letdown eventually after winning four straight. Now they dropped back with Pittsburgh, who are also 4-2, but technically behind since the Bengals beat them head-to-head.

is game, but that didn’t stop the Titans from giving up 357 yards passing and 4 touchdowns to Matt Schaub. After holding down the Steeler offense, Tennessee’s defense looked lost without Albert Haynesworth. Even Chris Johnson’s near 300 yards of offense couldn’t save them. Texans could be on the rise, but give it a week or two, then pass judgment.

A .500 season could the best the Jets could hope for.

In Houston, we still don’t know if Matt Schaub can play a full 16-game season. Since signing his massive contract, Schaub hasn’t proven anything as a Texan. Last year the Texans offense was ranked third overall in the NFL behind All-Pro receiver Andre Johnson and rookie sensation Steve Slaton at tailback. Every year experts predict the Texans will finally break through in the AFC south, but I won’t believe it until I see it. Nine wins for the Texans is a long shot.

Every time Chicago’s offense pulled closer, the defense managed to give up another score. Matt Schaub dissected the Bears’ secondary, hitting on 75% of his 36 pass attempts. Schaub was only the last in a series of quarterbacks who found great success against the Bears porous pass coverage and non-existent pass rush. It is only fitting that the defense’s Achilles heel is showcased in their final game of the season, a loss.

ric stadium like Lambeau and in single digit temperatures....it's going to be tough!

Matt Schaub returned from his MCL injury suffered during the road game at the Vikings (Nov.2nd) and threw for a franchise-record 414 passing yards in the freezing temperatures. The headline following the game on the 'YahooN! Fantasy Sports' page called Schaub a "Cool Customer". Accurate to the tee! Despite the 400+ yard day for Schaub, the Texans turned the ball over 4 times. Most times that would equal a loss in the record books, but the Packers didn't play good football. They scored all of their 21 points off Texans turnovers. Houston escaped with a 24-21 victory with a game-winning field goal from kicker Kris Brown.

onic? Because Haynesworth was the same player that had 'suspicious' hits against Texans quarterback Matt Schaub before last season in the same stadium! (Reliant Stadium). Official diagnosis of Haynesworth's injury has not been released, but the replay was not too pretty. Titans will need him by their first playoff game!

Vikings 28 Texans 21

This was a game the Texans could have won despite Matt Schaub suffering an MCL injury in the second quarter due to a hit by Vikings' Jared Allen. Sage Rosenfels took over and led the team for a touchdown on the first drive after half-time, but those would be the only points for the Texans in the second half as their 3 game winning streak was snapped. The story remains the same: Texans play pretty good at home, but playing on the road has not netted good results.

warmer for coach Herm Edwards--one were to think.

Texans 35 Bengals 6

Matt Schaub was near perfect and so were the Texans in this one. Bengals showed no sign of...well anything after the first half as Houston demolished Cincinnati. Texans have won 3 straight (the first time in Franchise history) as they fly up to Minnesota to take on Adrian Peterson and the Vikings on Sunday. Bengals on the other hand, drop to 0-8 and take on the Jacksonville Jaguars at home as they try to get a win on the board.

This message sounds quite a bit like what Quarterback Matt Schaub (Houston Texans) rallied his team, down 14-3, Sunday at HOME against the Dolphins. Schaub faced chants of "SAGE, SAGE" (his BACK-UP QB) in the huddles by the home crowd.
