Tracy McGrady continues to be out. He's in the middle of his '2 week physical conditioning'. Ron Artest has a ankle injury and has made it clear he's uncertain when he'll be able to return to the court. So the pieces of the puzzle are still up in the air for the 26-16 Houston Rockets.

kets can go deep into the playoffs if A: They can keep Tracy McGrady and Yao Ming healthy and B: If Ron Artest can keep his composure on and off the court. Earlier tonight, if a single game was any indication; Rockets fans will have something to cheer about in late April and May and fellow NBA teams can expect Houston to be a legit threat all season.

People are saying Houston’s got the best perimeter duo in Shane Battier and Ron Artest—I’m saying Kobe and Ariza give that tandem a run for their money. Kobe also looked super efficient. Kobe’s going to have more than a few 5X4 nights (at least 5 points, steals, assists and rebounds). He looks like he’s just taking what the defense is giving him, meaning, I honestly believe he’s going to shoot close to 55 percent this season. So, while his overall stats might go down, his efficiency is going to sky-rocket.

Well, Ron Artest is not coming to Los Angeles. Great!

Instead, he’s making his way out of Sacto and into H-Town. great…

I was against him coming to the Lakers mainly because I didn’t feel he was an upgrade over Lamar Odom, or, put differently, I felt losing Odom would hurt the Lakers game plan more than adding Artest would help it.

So, moving forward, there is talk of perhaps trading Odom for Ron Artest and the deadweight contract of Kenny Thomas. While one cannot rule out a bounce-back effort from Thomas, at 6-7 he’s undersized at the 4 and would seal the fate of Turiaf going elsewhere.
