Suddenly Lamar Odom’s name is being floated in all sorts of trade rumors. Sasha Vujacic and Ronny Turiaf, the Lakers two main free agents (restricted) who, before the finals looked like for sure they would be resigned, suddenly left Thursday’s exit meetings unsure of their futures with the organization.

ia person in the world questioned both mentally and physically; Kwame Brown, no explanation needed; Ronny Turiaf, an energetic player who plays with the metaphorical heart, but who has real heart problems; Jordan Farmar, a sophomore point guard; Javaris Crittendon, a rookie point guard; Maurice Evans, an athletic, shoot-first backup shooting guard; Sasha Vujacic, a dude who Phil dubbed an 11 a.m. player because he could hit all his shots during practice, but none during the game; Lamar, a self-proclaimed number 3 trying to masquerade as a 2; and Fish who was the only saving grace for KB.

Wednesday night’s standout performer (besides Mr. Bryant) would have to be DJ MBenga. With Ronny Turiaf out with a sore throat, MBenga came in and played 7 crucial minutes while the foul-plagued Lamar Odom sat out. DJ grabbed 5 boards, had a steal and handed out 3 fouls. The box score doesn’t say much, but he was energetic, brought toughness, got underneath and banged with Camby and Martin, and did about as much as one could possibly do to impress in 7 minutes of work.

Andrew Bynum has reportedly been working out with Chris Mihm and could run through full practice as early as this week. This is great news. Also great news is the recent play of Lamar Odom. As discussed last week in this blog, Odom has finally started to play with a fire and confidence that has been sorely lacking from his all-around game. He’s shooting 86 percent in his last two games. He’s found a great rhythm playing with both Kobe and especially Gasol and has become deadly efficient.

When one part is missing, well, the equation just simply doesn’t work.
Enter Ronny Turiaf.
Last night, on his birthday, he was highlighted on Fox Sports Net West in a segment called Before the Bigs. Now, his game will be highlighted the next eight weeks. He’s the kind of guy you know is just itching for some action, and he’ll be able to show everyone how far endless energy and enthusiasm can carry a team. He’ll have to be the replacement Yin.
