Remember how Willie McGinest was irked when Junior Seau signed with the Patriots and was allowed to wear “55” right after Willie left for Cleveland? Well it sounds like McGinest wants to erase the years the fraud wore his number.

The word of the day is rebuilding. rebuilding is when a team, in a sense, starts with a clean slate. it is most often characterized by releasing players, acquiring new, mostly younger, players and often involves coaching changes. several sources include members of the jaguars staff, bloggers, and even nfl.com have implied or directly stated that the jags are in a rebuilding stage. this is supported by the fact that some keys veterans have been cut (i.e fred taylor, paul spicer) and that younger players are being added to the roster. this means that as fans we must remain patient as our players begin to grow and develop into a team in title contension. that is great news but i don't really like the concept of a team trying to rebuild. when a team states that they're rebuilding, they're telling the world that they are lowering their standards for the next couple of years. they're saying that they will be satisfied with a 9-7 year and maybe  make  the playoffs only to be eliminated in the first round. i'm not saying that i wont be satisfied with that. it's better than last year. what i'm saying is that we can't aim that low. if Jack Del Rio was in an interview or at a press conference it would be better for him to say that they "...are trying a new approach" then saying that they're rebuilding. but all in all i'm excited for a new year and another chance for the cats to bring home the lombardi. maybe thats just me.

I recently had a chance to talk sports, working in sports, and even a little Arod with 710 ESPN Seattle’s Liz Mathews. Liz is “The Professor” John Clayton’s producer on The John Clayton show on 710 ESPN Seattle, an avid Seattle Seahawk fan, and she practices law. Liz was nice enough to take the time to answer every question I had for her, and did a great job in doing so.

The word of the day is fanship. Fanship is the act or state of being a fan. I participate in fanship. You participate in fanship. We all participate in it. Personally, I participate in it in relation to different teams in different leagues. Among these are the Jacksonville Jaguars. I live in Jacksonville. There is much pride for the Big Cats and much scrutiny of them in this city. You’d be hard-pressed to hear me scrutinizing the jags. The jags will always be held dear to me. In fact I was a jaguars fan before I liked football. I began playing football in the 6th grade and was a fan since the 2nd. I remember people talking bad about the jags right before they fired Tom Coughlin. I stood up for the jaguars. I remember the hype about the new coaching change and the negative opinions of Del Rio. I stood up for him. I told them he would do a good job. And now even as I have grown, I carry the same mentality. When I’m at the mall, I can hear a stranger standing thirty feet away say something bad about the jaguars as he passes Football Fanatics and I will began to ball my fists up. Or when I’m at school and I see a Titans shirt, I began to grind my teeth. In fact, if you were to ask my friends, they’d say I tell non-jaguar fans to move out of Jacksonville. This is because I am a fan. If you’ve ever been a fan of anything in your life, you know this feeling. That is fanship.

This is my first blog so work with me here ok. Theres alot going around that Marshall is going to be traded away in the next few weeks. I just dont see that happening, because the broncos can afford to lose another great player. I believe with in the next few weeks that the broncos and Marshall will work out a new contract. Sure he posted a blog on his web site saying farewell to denver and its friends but could be because he dont think denver will keep him. Mcdaniels says that Marshall will be at training camp in July. After the numbers that he has put up the last two seasons he desevers a new contract.

I can’t remember a busier or more significant Chicago Bears offseason. After the miraculous acquisition of Jay Cutler (which I still can’t believe happened), and then the signing of Orlando Pace, Jerry Angelo could have sat out the rest of free agency and skipped the draft and Bears fans would have been content. Not one to rest on his new QB’s laurels, Angelo refuses to let up.

Donte Stallworth just plead guilty to DUI manslaughter. It makes you wonder. He seemed to be doing well when he was playing for the Philadelphia Eagles but now that he is playing for the Browns it seems things have gone downhill. Although he did have that one incident while in Philly he seemed like a stand up guy. He got 30 days in jail, 1000 hours community service, his driver’s license suspended for life and has been suspended from the NFL indefinitely. Granted he was facing 15 years in jail so I guess it could have been worse. Either way the incident begs the question how did we get in this situation and could anything have been done to prevent it?

Ok, in my last blog post I said Brett Favre can't happen, so Sage or T-Jack has to.  Well, i stand corrected.  I saw u-tube video today of Favre throwing and saying it felt "OK".  He also said "ok" isn't good enough.  We all know give him the time between now and Training Camp, it's going to be a Brett Favre's level of "ok".  I guess this Viking fan needs to be on the "if you can't beat 'em join 'em" bandwagon.  I don't necessarily like it, but we all also know it's going to happen.  Brett is noticably drooling over the opportunity he is presented with with the Vikes.  He has a chance here to do what Jerome Bettis and Michael Strahan did.  If he can manage it more power to him, but this Vikings fan has also got a lot of Packer backer friends and he will never be accepted back the way he was if he does this.  Ted Thompson, hide that hunting knife you keep around, cuz attempts to split your back are coming from #4.  Obviously that is part of this scenario.

Ok Mr Brandon Marshall, after leading the NFL in RYAC (receiving yards after contact) in 2007, complimented by your 6' 4" 230lb frame, the nickname of, "The Beast" was aptly and well deserved. After back-to-back seasons (2007-2008) with 100 plus catches and 1,000 plus yds, your physical talent was needless to say, without question and one of the best as a receiver in the NFL. Now, had this been the main body of work to your story to date here in Denver, this is one fan whom would be firmly entrenched in your korner so to speak..

On Tuesday an agreement was reached in Donte Stallworth's drunk driving incident. Stallworth was arrested after he struck and killed a pedestrian with his car in Miami on March 14th. The accident occurred at 7:20am as Stallworth was heading home after a night of drinking at a trendy Miami Beach club. The victim was just finishing his shift at work and was crossing the street to catch his bus when Stallworth struck and killed him with his car. When police arrived Stallworth submitted to a roadside sobriety test and blew a .126, well above Florida's .08 legal limit.

Starting today and till the end of next season I am going to blog about the Chargers for the preseason, regular season, and or the playoffs!

Well to get things started I would like to say they are really heading in the right direction.  QB Philip Rivers states that he and Tomlinson are healthy and ready to play this year. Shawn Merriman and Antonio Cromartie coming back from their respective injuries feel this year will be different. Their off-season is going really good. The rookies, I must say are doing exceptionally espceally the rookie Louis Vazquez. A little about me; I am a life long fan of all Minnesota Sports. Unfortunately, I am too young to fully appreciate the Twins victories in the late eighties early nineties, yet old enough to feel the Vikings pain of the late 90's. It seems Minnesota Sports have spiraled into complete mediocrity, unable to land any quality free-agents or draft quality players. In my blog I will attempt to bring a bit of humour and insight into the drab world which is Minnesota sports.  What better way to start than to discuss long time nemesis Brett Favre potentially becoming a member of the Vikings. I think as long as Favre is healthy, a big question mark at this point, he should be welcomed to Minnesota with open arms, provided he makes his decision before training camp. Favre has been his most effective when running the west coast offense. Media coverage of the Favre to Minnesota possibly has been particularly upsetting to me. On a recent episode of NFL Live, Mark Schlareth and Marcellus Wiley both ripped into Childress for his handling of the Favre situation. Schlareth went as far as to say 'it brings them from a Super Bowl

Plaxico Burress has avoided a decision in the justice system, for now, but will a decision on his playing future soon be reached? Burress and his agent Drew Rosenhaus have stated that he is in good shape and ready to play in the NFL this coming season after recovering from his self inflicted gun shot wound last fall. With jail time on the back burner for now, Burress seems free to rejoin an NFL team and resume his career, but does anyone want to sign him? More importantly, should anyone sign him?

Tell me this isn’t happening again.  Another soap opera at Broncos headquarters.  Once again a key player is at the center of it, a player who has loads of talent.  Heck, this player can certainly be described as a very unique talent.  The player in question is unhappy, and has reportedly demanded a trade.  Sound familiar?  This did not work out as the Broncos hoped with Jay Cutler.  How will it work with Brandon Marshall?  Unfortunately, the Broncos might be about to find out.  Mr. Marshall did not show for the team’s mandatory minicamp over the weekend.

Over the last two years America has slowly sunk into an economic mess. People are losing their jobs, their homes, and their self-esteem as they find it harder and harder to make ends meet. It appears however that not everybody is suffering. As college educated people lose jobs they've held for years, and recent college graduates struggle to find any job at all, there are some signing on the dotted line for millions that haven't earned a dime of what they are being given. America's two largest, and most arguably most popular, professional sports leagues are doing nothing to curtail ballooning salaries for top rated rookies who haven't even set foot on the field to prove they are worthy of a contract.

The country is getting more and more disgusted with each passing day as one of the NFL's greatest quarterbacks continues to make a mockery of his career by behaving like a spoiled diva. It's still only June, not even five months since Rex Ryan was hired as the newest head coach of the New York Jets, and he's already been stirring up drama in the AFC East.

First came Bart Scott, the Inside Linebacker Ryan brought with him from Baltimore, proclaiming the Jets to have a  new "swagger-licious" attitude. Practices were now fun and vocal, a swift departure from how things were run under Eric Mangini. After just a few OTA practices, the Jets already had a new confidence under Ryan.

Brett Favre where do we begin.  This is an open letter to you and all of your concerns.  Stop you incessant pursuit to dominate your old team.  It isn’t likable, pretty or even expected that a man of caliber would stoop to such depths.  No playing campaign with the Minnesota Vikings will validate your 16 year career with the Green Bay Packers.  Unless you join the Vikings and go undefeated for the next two seasons, the Packers are never going to believe they made the wrong decision.

It would be easy to say that Tom Brady going down in Week One was the defining moment of the 2008 New England Patriots.

Sure, in many ways it was, but with Brady going down just twelve minutes into 2008 there was still a full season of football to be played. So, ultimately the 2008 Patriots were not defined by a lack of Tom Brady, they were defined by not being able to beat any of the elite teams they faced.

I had alot of hope for this guy, I still do. If you have not heard of Cameron Wake by now I am not suprised. His presence has been buried by the return of Jason Taylor (WELCOME BACK!). Wake was plucked from the CFL where in two seasons he collected 39 sacks, was the Outstanding Rookie Of The Year his first season, and was Most Outstanding Defensive Player both years. Most Cowboy fans have probably heard that Greg Ellis will either be traded or released before the upcoming season.  It what has been a turbulent past decade for the cowboys, Ellis provided solid performance at the DE and more recently at LB when the Boys shifted to the 3-4.  He was never a perenial All-Pro and maybe not worth a 1st Round pick, but he was a good solid player and a starter on most teams.  Minus his troubles converting to the 3-4 and contracts that go with it, it will feel strange not to see him in a Cowboys uniform.

QBs: Okay...after 4 practices, apparently Brady Quinn looked the best. However, according to Coach Mangini, Derek Anderson looked good, as well. Then again, since Brett Ratliff knows Mangini's system, I thought maybe he would be leading the pack early in the game. But, that's not the case. Nevertheless, once again, we will have a QB controversy, or is it healthy competition? On our roster, we have 4 QBs: Derek Anderson, who I believe is starting his 5th year; Brady Quinn, 3; Brett Ratliff, 2; and Richard Bartel, 1. We really don't have a QB who is experienced. Will this be a problem? Anyway, I believe Brady Quinn will be given every opportunity to stabilize this position. It will be his to lose.

The Higher The Hope, The Harder It Falls (Thus Far)

Being a Saints fan has to be one of the most frustrating things in all of pro sports.  You are from Louisiana; they are the Saints…you have no choice.  Dammit, you have no choice.  You watched them trade draft picks to Dallas for Steve Walsh, you watched them grow great defensive players and then promptly trade them once their salaries got too expensive, you watched them trade seeming nobodies who quickly became somebodies on other teams (Bobby Hebert, I’m looking mostly at you), and you’ve watched them somehow manage to beat some pretty good teams during the regular season only to turn around and get facialed by the 2-10 Browns the next week.  The uncertainty killed you, but it’s also what made the Saints the Saints.  I can’t think of another fan base in any pro sport that has gotten so much morose pleasure out of being shitty.  Remember the paper bags over the heads with “Aint’s” written across?  The fans were pleased with their own creativity, which at least tried to offset the INCREDIBLE lack of creativity in Jim Mora’s offense.  But that was I different era.  I’ll move on.

OK, evrybody is talking about our QB issues. I don't really see the problem. Alex Smith is coming of an injury that has not COMPLETELY healed but, he's throwing well at the OTA's.

This shouldn't cause panic for Hill fans. Hill is very much as good a QB as we've seen him be. I read somewhere that some think it might have been a fluke because of the offense that was being used by Martz. I don't care what offense is being run, if you have time to get the ball to your recievers down field, you'll complete 60-70% of your passes.

As OTA's and minicamps progress while training camp begin to roll over the horizon, America's favorite sport nears its regular season.  While nobody knows how well teams will do in a season with the randomness of injuries and several other factors, it's always interesting to look ahead at the schedule and prognosticate.  Unlike most people, I'm not going to give just a win or loss for each game, rather I'm going to predict how many times the Steelers would win if they played a team 10 times.  For instance if the Steelers were playing a very crappy team, I would say 9/10 or 10/10.  At the end i will add up the wins and divide by 10, giving us how many wins they will have this season.

Todd Haley has chance this year to prove to everybody he can be a head coach in the NFL.  However the chance he took is on a team that went 2-14 last season and couldn't ever seem to find rythem offensively.  I've got to give them man credit.  He's got a lot courage and confidence in himself to take the reigns over for a team that most coaches shyed away from leading last year.  Haley was in the spotlight last year around the time that him and wide reciever had gotten into on the sideline.  Haley seemed to handle the matter with good authority and that is exactly what we need in the Chiefs organization.

During the 2008-2009 season, an encouraging pattern appeared.  The Steelers would start the game well, at some point fall behind, and in the 4th quarter, Big Ben would engineer a game winning drive.  This phenomena reared its head during the regular season, but in the biggest game of the year, Super Bowl XLIII.  Why is the leader of such a sub par offense (22nd in the league during the regular season) the engineer of so many come from behind wins? When examined, two major reasons can be found.

This is just not the Celtics' year. Last night's game 7 looked like a game 4 in a 3-0 series. The Celtics came out without their energy, all out of sync. Clearly, they missed KG. Ray Allen, who we needed to step up, finally did, but he was the only one who showed up to play. Meanwhile, Orlando 21-13 from three point land, was just too much to handle and every shot they took led to me biting my nails off and praying for a comeback that never came. This game was a tough one for Boston to handle; we were losing all game and never made the run that they usually can.

With the announcement that rookie LB Tyrone McKenzie will miss the 2009 season with a torn ACL in the right knee, I have a suggestion for the Patriots front office:

Coming off a super bowl victory last season, hopes couldn't be higher for the 2009 Pittsburgh Steelers, as they should be.  While the team is returning 20 out of 22 starters from that super bowl run (only losing Larry Foote and Bryant Mcfadden), things begin to look bleak as we look at the possible roster a year from now.  In 2010, the Steelers will have an alarming number of key players that will be free agents if these players do not re-sign.

Doug Marrone was hired by the Syracuse Orange to replace Greg Robinson who basically didn't take the Orange anywhere but down. Doug Marrone was the New Orleans Saints offensive coordinator since 2006.

Brett Favre was released from the New York Jets last week as an unrestricted free agent, and ever since the gossip has been swirling that Head Coach Brad Childress has been trying to woo Favre to his former rival team the Minnesota Vikings. At Favre's press conference he stated that he was retired from the National Football League "at this time" and the rumor mill has been churning up stories ever since. But whats the truth? It was reported that Childress flew to visit Favre at his home in Mississippi on Wednesday May 6, but Childress arrived the Vikings training facility the following morning. Are we to believe that if such meeting did occur, that it was so cut and dry a
