NFL: Lynch, Pac-Man, & Rookie Contracts

Recently Marshawn Lynch was involved in a hit and run and although not all the details have been released, what we do know is that Lynch has pleaded guilty and has publicly apologized. I don’t know what kind of person Marshawn Lynch is. For the most part, I think his great season in Buffalo was completely overshadowed by the tremendous play of Minnesota Running Back Adrian Peterson. Lynch was basically off the radar. He’s on a team that no one outside of Buffalo could really care about and he was a rookie at the wrong time. He hasn’t made a huge impact, but I still think he’s a really good running back. I don’t know what he does in his personal life and like I said we don’t really know all the details on this incident. What I would like to know is if this will effect his season? Will Marshawn Lynch be playing football this season or will he be punished by Commissioner Goodell? Only time will tell. I think if you’re gonna suspend players for violating substance policies, then hitting someone with your car should be ranked right up there with a suspend- able offense.

It has come to my attention that Pac-Man Jones no longer wants to be referred to as Pac-Man. He wants to be called by his real name, Adam Jones. I also heard that he will accept Mr. Jones. Ok buddy, its time for you to get your head out of your ass and start realizing that you are a screw up waiting to happen. You are one more strip club away from being banned from football for life. The mere notion that you would even ask to be called Mr. Jones is so ridiculous it makes your TNA Wrestling career a smash hit. You can forget about Mr. Jones. As far as your real name, Adam, is concerned, I’d never thought I’d say this, but you my friend have to earn the right to be called Adam. Yes thats right. You have to earn the right to be called by your actual name. You have screwed up so much that right now you have almost no rights. No one takes you seriously except for maybe Jerry Jones, who seems to have a thing for ex-convicts. Instead of worrying about what people call you and hell even what Don Imus is saying, why don’t you start focusing on the game and showing people all of this supposed potential you have? You got it Pac-Man?

The issue of rookie contracts has been brought up a lot over the past couple months. It seems like every year rookies are making more and more money. There are many views on this issue, but I tend to agree with Commissioner Goodell when he says that the money should go to people who perform. These rookies have not even played a single down in the NFL and some of them are in the top 5 salary of their position. Let me put this in perspective for you. Last season, Tom Brady threw a record 50 Touchdown passes during the regular season and lead his team to an 18-1 record. Matt Ryan, the Atlanta Falcons’ first round pick, has not played a single down in the NFL. Matt Ryan is making more money then Tom Brady. Its ridiculous. There must be something done about this. Rookies should be making the league minimum for at least 2 years or until they have proven themselves. Once they have proven themselves, I and I’m sure most people won’t give a damn what they are paid. We want to see players get it done on the field. We want to see players struggle for 60 minutes of football. We want to see what players are better, what teams are better. Rookies who are already making more money then they are worth aren’t gonna play hard. It hurts the game and hurts the league. Its not a knock on guys like Matt Ryan. It’s a knock on how the league is being run and the things that need to change.
