Is Chad Johnson really all that? posted on 03/25/2008
Lately, I have been hearing talk shows and ESPN talk about Chad Johnson and his problems and emotions. Let's put this is prospective. Chad Johnson is a good Wide Reciever, noone can argue with that, but he will never be the best. Why you ask? I'll tell you why. He complains too much, he talks about himself in the third person, and he thinks he is better than every wide reciever out there. Let me tell you, back in the day, did you ever hear Steve Largent whine and complain? How about Jerry Rice? No you did not (and if you dissagree, you are not paying attention). These two recievers were the best in the game period! To this day, there has not been a reciever who has even come close to the talent that Steve Largent and Jerry Rice had.
I was a wide reciever in Jr. High and High School. I was good enough to be All State, and considered one of the best Wide Recievers in the state of Washington (back in the day). I knew this, but did not have a big head about it. Now mind you, it was just high school and not the NFL. But it is all about the principle. It seems that if someone considers you to be the best in your position, that it gives you the right to complain about everything that does not go your way.

Is the NASCAR schedule too long? posted on 03/24/2008
I just read an article posted by Joe Menzer on NASCAR.com about how to shorten the NASCAR schedule. I would have to agree. The NASCAR scedule takes 9 1/2 months to complete which is one, if not the longest, sporting seasons in the world. The reason for the long season comes down to money. Like Joe said in his post, it is about greed and that is evident if you follow NASCAR like I do. I would have to agree with the suggestions that Mr. Menzer has provided in his blog, but with my personal twist to it. First of all, I would change the schedule to where each track that is on the current Sprint Cup schedule gets one race each year, and add one track to a rotation schedule so fans in that area, gets a chance to see a NACAR Sprint Cup race. For instance; bringing a Sprint Cup race back to Rockingham (North Carolina) one year, and the next year, Kentucky, so on and so forth. Soon, there will be a track in the state of Washington. How are they going to fit that into the lengthy schedule that they already have? If they have two races at a track there should only be two tracks that would qualify, Daytona International Speedway (both the Daytona 500 and the Pepsi 400 in July) and Charlotte Motor Speedway (The Allstar Race and the Coca-Cola 600), and that's it! After the Coca-Cola 600, there should be a week off for all the crews and drivers to recrupiate from the longest race of the year. When they come back, that is when you incorporate the new track rotation for that year and then on to the rest of the schedule to finish off the year. Like Joe Menzer said, and I agree with this, this will cut costs down for all of the companies who sponsor the cars and races throughout the year. THhs will also allow the companies who do not have the money to do a full season (as it is right now), to be able to sponsor a team for a full season without breaking the bank. Now is my suggestions going to be looked at by NASCAR and taken in consideration? Probably not, but I do know this, I am not the only one who feels this way. I am sure that every fan of NASCAR has floating in the back of their mind: "Pocono again?" (or something to that fact).

The Portland Lumberjax and the playoffs? posted on 03/24/2008
The Portland Lumberjax (NLL) who are 4-7 on the year are just 2 games out of first place which are being held by both Colorado and San Jose. The Lumberjax beat Colorado 16-15 on Thursday night and have two staight games coming up against San Jose. If the Lumberjax happen to win both games against San Jose and get help from both Rochester and Buffalo, The Lumberjax could share the top spot in the West.
So the question is, can they do it? Considering that I have seen the last few games, I beleive they have the heart and talent, but lack the drive. They have had leads in the last few games and have given them up in the third or fourth quarters. This can't happen if you want to make the playoffs. Now, in the last game against Colorado, Portland was given a 5 minute major penalty and were a man short for the whole 5 minutes. Portland did not let that hinder them as they fired off 4 goals during the shorthanded 5 minutes. Now I did say they did not have the drive, but during those 5 minutes they had the drive they had during their first year in the league.

Can Davidson be the next Cinderella story? posted on 03/24/2008
I would have never guest it myself, Davidson, going to the, Sweet 16,. Why is that? Well when you are a 10th ranked team and headed for an uphill battle by playing a 7th seed and then having to play a 2nd seed, it seems improbable to think you will win both games, but I have been proven wrong. In my bracket I picked #10 Davidson to beat #7 Gonzaga, but never would have I guessed that Davidson would beat the #2 Georgetown Hoyas. What does that say for Georgetown? If I was the Hoyas, I would be outright embarrassed to be beaten by a 10th seed. You are a 2nd seed in one of the biggest tournaments in the world, you should be playing a heck of alot better than the Hoyas did.
With that said, I am sure that I am not the only one who is dissapointed by the way the top seeded teams have playe
